Wake Up Walmart!

Wal-Mart has let America down by lowering wages, forcing good paying American jobs overseas, and cutting costs while completely ignoring this countries values. Wal-Mart has exploited illegal immigrants, faces the largest gender discrimination lawsuit in history, forced workers to work in an unsafe environment, and has even broken child labor laws. Wake Up Walmart Specializes on Taking Walmart Down and won't stop until they change their ways, They are recruiting people everyday and they will really not stop.

Poll Against Wal-mart

Wake Up Walmart did a poll and surveyed 1,012 random people and asked them what they thought about Walmart and if they think its a good thing. The results ended up coming just how they wanted, 56% of the people that took the survey agreed that Walmart is bad, thats more than the majority so that was a great turnout for them. Another pretty good turnout for them was when people were strongly agreeing that Walmart is pushing towards becoming a Monopoly and how that hurts small businesses. Wake Up Walmart is a huge organization that is on Walmart's tail and is pushing for higher wages for its customers.

Walton's are Selfish

There are Currently 5 Walton's living. their names are Alice, Helen, John, Rob & Jim Walton. They each  all make $18,000,000,000+ Every year. That is so much money and with the really low amount of money that their employees are getting paid, i think that's just selfish! The Walmart employees can give money every time they get their paychecks to a fund that helps fellow employees and in one year they raised 5 million dollars, the amount that the Walton gave was at the incredibly low amount of $6,000. Making 18+ Billion and only giving $6,000 for your employees? That's extremely Selfish. The Walton's have given less than 1% of their income to charity compared to bill gates who has given 58%. In the 2004 tax year the Walton's got a tax cut of $91,500.00 per HOUR. They make an extremely large amount of money and should at least give more money to charities or for their employees if they are making so much money, they are just selfish.

Walmart: NOT American

Walmart claimed to be American and to only buy American. But this claim is false! Walmart's biggest factories are in China, that does not help our Economy because there are no jobs being created  by Walmart and that means less spending going on in our economy and that just doesn't help us. Another thing that doesn't help us is that Walmart imported 18 billion dollars from china, that does not help our deficit with China! The working condition for the employees in China is awful, there were parts in the movie that showed their working conditions and they were really bad and they were pretty much working for free! A lot of people were working full day shifts and were making less than a dollar a day. The Messed up thing about that is that when the inspectors of the working conditions come, the managers tell the employees to lie about the working conditions and say that everything is really good there and they love working there and its a safe environment. If the employees lie and do a good job on lying, they get rewarded. If the employee tells the truth they are punished and fired.

Overtime

Overtime is a thing that many Walmart's REFUSE to pay. This is one of Walmart's biggest problems and there have been soooo many law suits against them for this. But many other employees really don't do much about it, many employees are even willing to work off the clock and finish up all of their duties with no pay because they really need a job and cant afford to be replaced and fired. In the movie i watched about Walmart, there was a Store manager that admitted that he had gone into the clocking in/out machine, changed the amount of hours from 43 to 40 and added the 3 to the next week, and gave them 3 hours less the next week so they would not get paid overtime. He said that he was ashamed of it but its what he had to do and that pretty much all store managers did the same thing. That is just unfair and not right at all.

Walmart Costs States

Walmart uses up a ton of money from different States and so much of it is going to support Walmart's employees. In 2005 Walmart cost California Taxpayers $86 Million! $32million of that is health related and $54million is in other assistance. And in Some County's, Walmart can cost them $23 Million, That so much money that Walmart makes local Governments pay for when they should be paying it themselves! Overall, Walmart Costs taxpayers about $1,557,000,000.00 just to support its Employees. That in no way whatsoever helps us pay off our national debt and really shouldn't be the Governments responsibility, The Walton's are each all Making over 18 Billion Dollars A YEAR, they should be taking care of that on their own and not Use Taxpayers Money.

Wal-mart Employee Insurance

The Employees at Walmart are not offered free insurance or even get benefits. The only insurance that Walmart offers is a really bad one that does not cover many medical expenses and is pretty much a waste of money for most of the employees. Most employees end up going on welfare and use taxpayers money and also get on Medicaid which also uses up taxpayers money.  That is pretty ridiculous since Walmart is a HUGE company and should easily be able to offer its employees insurance and benefits. When some employees are sick they are not covered for much so they rather not go to the doctor for themselves or for their kids because there is no way to spend that money, One because their insurance is awful, and Two because their income is just way too low.

Employees of Walmart

Walmart pays their emplyees as little as they can and in most cases they are being paid minnimum wage. In 2005 the average walmart employee was being paid $13,861 and the poverty level was at about $17,000. that is ridiculous that such a big business like walmart cant afford to pay its employees enough money to even surpass the poverty level. The worse thing is that when the walmart employees get paid most of their money goes right back into walmart because that's where most of their employees do their shopping. The part where this starts to really become a problem is when they encourage their employees to go on Welfare.Walmart Employes make so little that they have to go on welfare and get financial aid from the government.

Walmart lowers Value

In the movie "Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price" it said that whenever a Walmart Came to town, the Value of a Building went down. Thats because walmart takes away a lot of business from local businesses and they end up getting closed down. Eventually there are a bunch of empty lots of buildings and people do not want to be buying buildings where they know there will be no positive outcome. There was a part in the movie where a walmart owner was driving by the neighborhood where his walmart was going to open up and he pointed at stores and guessed how long it would take for that business to close down because he knew they would run that business down. Walmart drives down retail 3 BILLION dollars every year.

walmart bad for local businesses

In a recent study of how walmart impacts smaller local businesses, it showed that a lot of them were being closed down because walmart had taken a lot of their business because walmart has everything there. The Prices that walmart sets there items to are at too low of a price. That affects the employees at walmart also because they are being paid less than the amount to be above the poverty line so all of their money is just going to go back to walmart because thats where most employees do their shopping. Smaller businesses cannot compete with these prices a lot of time because walmart specifically sets their prices so others cannot compete, they are basically trying to become a monopoly.
